John Legend's 2010 collaboration with the Roots, Wake Up! (G.O.O.D./Columbia), is a celebration of thoughtful social consciousness-meets-funky grooves that's worth hearing if you haven't already. It contains riveting performances on songs you might have guessed would be there ("Wake Up Everybody," "Compared to What") and a long, searing version of Bill Withers' little-known "I Can't Write Left-Handed."
