Although the FBI seems to be working on hundreds of those cases relentlessly, politicians--especially Republicans--barely seem to remember that anarchy, and their sense of outrage has evaporated. "Let's move on," many have said. What the Trump worshippers are doing is gaslighting, repeating a lie so often that those who know the truth begin to doubt themselves.
May Update: Among the bald faced liars concerning the insurrection is Georgia Representative Andrew Clyde, who claimed--with a straight face--that the actions of January 6th were like "a tour" being given of the Capitol. But then two photos surfaced. One shows Clyde among the lawmakers who were barricading the doors of the chamber to keep the Trump bunch out. The other shows Clyde with his mouth wide open in astonishment as guns were being drawn on his side of the fracas. Caught, Mr. Clyde!
As for Mr. Trump, he has downplayed his reprehensible actions even more than his minions did. Am I missing something here? Did the five persons who died on that day (and two afterward) come back to life or something? Well over a hundred police officers were injured that day! Trump will never take responsibility for anything; he reminds me of the children's book, Who Wet My Pants?
The 45th President's latest lie is that insurrectionists were "hugging and kissing" law enforcement at the Capitol on January 6th. After four years of horror, the pandemic and more, Donald Jail Evader Trump will be remembered as eternally disgusting.
