The debacle was meanspirited and out of control, and centered around the big baby who calls himself the Commander In Chief. Inviting the white power extremist group the Proud Boys to be ready for election and/or inauguration chaos was especially chilling. And then Trump pretending the next day to not know anything about the Proud Boys and what they slink for.
Considering that several sources say Trump bases policy decisions on what he sees on Fox News or from his trusted wrecking crew, all the abominable Stephen Miller would have to do is drop the term into a conversation at the White House or on a talking points list for the President and Miller would get his evil wish: a Proud Boys shout out in Trump's very words.
A suggestion to the debate commission: mute the microphone of the candidate who does not have the floor in debate number two! Trump was said to have interrupted former Vice President Biden more than once per minute in the 90 minute debate.
It's grotesque--but hardly a shock--that Trump refused to denounce the Proud Boys hate group when he had the chance on live television; this batch of undesirables should be disdained by persons of every political stripe in the United States. How difficult would it have been for Trump to handle such a simple question?
While I am fearful of the havoc the despicable Donald Trump is trying to "inspire" throughout America, two less important things lightened my mood afterward.
One is that there are reports that Joe Biden's campaign raised their single highest day money total right after this fiasco. The other is that actor Mark Hamill tweeted: "The debate was the worst thing I've ever seen, and I was in the Star Wars Holiday Special."
